In the c++ source code I found remarks on metafun etc, which comes via
context, so this is my question?

Does not work, it seems that "cavern" is missing, and/or some files:
$ therion
therion 0.3.10

This is what I am doing, as I have locally updated therion 0.3.10-3.1
with added dependencies | texlive (dead simple).
But as long as I don't get the above running ...
