* 'echo -n' is not specified by POSIX -> replaced with printf
* Quotes in Emacs-style, like `that', should not be used out of Emacs.
Instead, use 'this style'. cf. http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/ucs/quotes.html
