Re: [Fwd: Old ConTeXt with new LModern fonts]

Hi Hans,

I had sent the attached message to the ConTeXt mailing list some time
ago. Not being subscribed to that list, it didn't get through, though.
Since you are probably one of the few who could help us here, I am
forwarding it to you directly. Any hints for the situation described?
adding the symlinks is ok; it will also serve users who have been using lm <.93 in other packages (not that many i guess); some names of encoding and map files were changed at an unfortunate moment (around freeze of tex live) and the same is true for the iwona and antykwa-torunska and kurier fonts; if they are included in tetex at some point users may be affected as well (but those fonts are not the widely used)
fyi: i decided to switch to latin modern in an early stage because it needed testing in real situations; in the process the fonts got better but users paid a price; on the other hand, context users are rather willing to update (esp when new fonts are supported, for instance the new latin modern condensed monospace variants); updating context is not that complex (just unzip an archive and remake the formats)

btw, the next couple of years quite some new and extended fonts will show up and the latin modern served as a testcase for that, so in a way it's not that bad that the problems surfaced now thanks for paying attention to users Hans
