Right, this was definitely my problem.  The most important
information was the following (at the top of messages);

> ** WARNING ** This .map file looks like a dvips format fotmap file.
> ** WARNING ** -- Current input buffer is: bkai01 bkai01 <bkai01.enc
> ** WARNING ** -- Reading fontmap file stopped at: file="dvipdfm.map", line=158.

and I found that bkai01 etc. came from arphic.map, then 
I remembered vagely that once, when I'd tested some problem
on Chinese characters and PDFTeX, I'd setted up arphic.map
in /etc/texmf/updmap.d (in a wrong way, perhaps).

After removing the file in /etc/texmf/updmap.d, I saw no
warning at all.
