I have 'G_depth: 16' and 'drawbegin at 236,522', ie, a mixture of the two.

On my system, the text can be seen very briefly, before it is covered by
the PS image.

Did you attach it, or do want to do it? There was no attachment here.

I think xdvi reads each and every enconding file mentioned in the map
file. On my system it reads many of files, simply because I have many
fonts installed. ;-)
