Together with the removal of the !! in front of TEXMFCONFIG in TEXMF
would be a great thing. This way I wouldn't have to hack around with
texlive overwritting some settings ;-)
I don't add TEXMFSYSCONFIG to TEXMF as this is useless. TEXMFSYSCONFIG
is only used to set TEXMFCONFIG = TEXMFSYSCONFIG in the -sys scripts
(AFAIR).
I make the changes to tex-common svn, both. If you don't like it, we
have to discuss.
