Getting a clearer structure into this is definitly a good idea.

Some questions:
Should updmap-sys be could with option --quiet?
Should one mention here that mktexlsr and updmap-sys should only be
called when present and refer to the sample code in the appendix?
Do you want to keep the "magic comment" stuff separate or integrate it
into the <enumlist>?
