I just wanted to be sure, since "handle" is only used once, that it
indeed intends to mean the same. (Sometimes similar words are
intentionally used to distinguis subtle differences)

I even gave a talk on it on Linuxtag.
I read it as "get smaller (La) TeX format files", since there is a
space I thought these are some special TeX-format files. Then I'd
suggest removing the space:
"get smaller (La)TeX format files"
Now it is clear.
