pdflatex fonts

Hi,

I installed tetex 2.0.2-2 from unstable on my testing box and I am
puzzled about how to make pdflatex PDF output look good in acrobat
reader 5.0. The CM fonts and the math ones (backets, \subset,...)
look bad. Compiling a simple document (some text and maths), pdflatex
ouputs:

 [1{/usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/pdftex.map}] (./a.aux) ) </var/cache/fonts/pk/ljfour/public/cm/cmmi7.600pk> </var/cache/fonts/pk/ljfour/public/cm/cmex10.600pk> </var/cache/fonts/pk/ljfour/public/cm/cmmi10.600pk> </var/cache/fonts/pk/ljfour/public/cm/cmr10.600pk>

Why are the *.pk used? How can I avoid this?

Thanks for any information,
ChriS
