Thanks for your contribution! For any reason I missed, that tipa is
delivered out with pfb-files and even ships a map-file. I don't know
these fonts.

Well, normally pdflatex should call maketexpk in that case and
generate the pk-files to include them into the pdf-file. That won't
look nice with Acrobat < 6.0, but should work.

Please reassign that bug. The tipa-package has just change, what you
described above. Should be not that hard.
