I fail to understand what you mean. I am trying to produce dvi printout
from a DocBook SGML file. Using the DocBook tools, I get a jadetex
error.

Now you try to compile a DocBook SGML file with the DebianDoc tools, and
it fails (surprise !). Is it supposed to work ? Do you mean that
DebianDoc is a superset of DocBook ?

How does this relate to the issue I have submited ?

I tried using the debiandoc2dvi tool with the -v option, to see the
exact error message. The error I get is :

debiandoc2latexdvi: WARNING: overwriting big-howto-template.tex
This is TeX, Version 3.14159 (Web2C 7.3.9)
(./big-howto-template.tex
LaTeX2e <2001/06/01>
Babel <v3.7h> and hyphenation patterns for american, french, german,
ngerman, nohyphenation, loaded.

! LaTeX Error: Missing \begin{document}.
[...]

This has nothing to do with the error I have reported, but could be
related to the fact that DebianDoc seems to expect a <book> at the
beginning of the document, while this document starts with an <article>
tag, and does not include any <book> tag.

Thanks anyway for your support.
