Actually a short document with 'orbit0.ps' figure fails with the same
message, so it seems the problem is with that particular ps figure (created
with Adobe Illustrator) and not with the size of dvi file. However, dvi2ps
works fine in both cases and so does dvips distributed with RedHat. I wonder
if it is possible to configure (or perhaps recompile) dvips in Debian so it
does not choke on such a file?

Many thanks,
Slaven
