Package: tetex-bin
Version: 1.0.7+20011202-8
Severity: normal

Hi,

if you disagree with the severity of this bugreport, then feel free to
change it. If you really consider closing it, then provide please also
some explanation.

Today when I wanted to update my system, I noticed that the upgrade of
tetex-bin from the above given version to version 1.0.7+20021025-3
forced me to install perl-tk, which means 7MB. I then looked at the
changelog on auric and saw that this change was introduced to one binary
needing it. While I'm in favour of fixing the bug by adding some
dependency, I'm not in favour of forcing everybody to install another
7MB of necessary, especially since not many people are using the command
in question. Please consider splitting out the binary (or maybe
binaries) in an extra package depending on perl-tk or some other
solution which doesn't force everybody to install another 7MB of unused
libraries. I'm for now going to stick with version 1.0.7+20011202-8
until an upgrade doesn't force me to install 7MB extra. Thanks for
looking into this.

Christian

Changes:
 tetex-base (1.0.2+20021025-4) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * Added note for tetex maintainers about how to create orig.tar.gz
This is irrelevant for users but might be helpful for maintainers
     cooperation. [kohda]
   * Now postinst and tetex-extra.postinst checked the existence of
/etc/texmf/fmtutil.cnf" before running "texconfig init". [kohda]
     (Closes: #62539)
   * Now updmap.cfg is not a conffile but a configuration file generated by
     update-updmap of tetex-bin. [kohda] (Closes: #70581)
   * Found extsizes was included. [kohda] (Closes: #111561)
   * Removed unnecessary /etc/X11/Xresources from dirs. [kohda]
   * Moved eurosym and texdoctk stuffs in tetex-extra so modified dependency
     correspondingly. [kohda] (Closes: #173872, #170382)
   * Moved pdftex/pdflatex stuffs in tetex-base so now pdftex/pdflatex
     should work without tetex-extra. [kohda]
     (Closes: #143751, #95995, #139298)
   * Removed FMT files when tetex-extra would be removed. Note, obsolete
omaga.fmt and lambda.fmt would be removed with preinst of tetex-bin.
     [kohda] (Closes: #45930)
   * Fixed handling way of psfonts.map pdftex.map ; first removed
obsolete wrong files if any in preinst and set them up correctly in
     postinst. [kohda]
   * Tried to remove obsolete conffiles with debconf. [kohda]
   * Fixed handling of /usr/share/texmf/doc in rules; in the former version
symlinks were messed up. In this time, they would be corrected and #170592
     should be fixed really.
