Why not?  Do you mean adding it to the .diff.gz?  If so, there are
several obvious possibilities:

(i)   Add it to the non-pristing .orig.tar.gz
(ii)  Add the .tex file to the .diff.gz and tex it during the build
(iii) Add a uuencoded version of the file to the .diff.gz and decode
      it during the build
