 770,770E,770X,600E,600X and 570 (+couple others) work 
 just fine regarding this (we have 220+ thinkpads
 at work..). 
 
 My suggestion is to upgrade the bios. IBM has a huge 
 mahinery behind their support, and they put out upgrades
 even for really old models.
