As I had writen, Sarge IS working on the SS10 and SS20 but not Etch.

You should install Sarge onto the machine and then roll your OWN  Kernel
with your OWN version number to prevent its removing if you upgrade  the
system to Etch, which is the only way, to get Etch installed.

Question: Are you realy sure, you want to install Etch on the machine?
          If you do not need the X-Window-System (where Xorg is faster
          then XFree86), Sarge runs much faster then Etch for server
          use and such.
