Hi! 
I use real serial ports and a USB serial port dongle to connect to my Ultra 5 
and the Ultra 60 Workstations.

No Problem. Neither with minicom nor with all other applications I tried.

But I had similar problems at the beginning. Just be sure to use the correct 
serial cable to connect to the Sun!
