I am replying to my own message....
The problem in my case was totally my stupidity. I am running a raid1
system. And for some other reason I was running the root on a "normal"
partition for a little while and then restarted the raid with the non
used partition. During this time, again my own stupidity, I run apt-get
which affected only the non-raided partition where the libgcc1 actually
was. So when I restarted the raid I created a "mixed" system for myself.
So no fault of Debian !!!
This was not so obvious for some hours to me, since very few things
were affected. Few things are on the / since /var /usr /home /opt has
its own partition.... and just a few package were update (lucky for me)
I am writing this hoping noone will do this stupid thing again.
So I am fine again, after re-installing the most critical packages ....
Cheers,
Gabor
