I have an Ultra2. I can get Debian stable kernel installed
and working just fine. Anything that uses initrd (which
would include 2.6.x as well I believe) just does not
work. I can never get it booted.

I would use the stable kernel, I really don't care what
kernel version I'm at, but it seems to have problems with
the Sun Happy MEal (hme0) interface, in that when I start
doing a lot of network activity, the interface starts to drop
and come back and drop and keeps complaining about
the cable, which I have changed several times. Neither
Solaris nor NetBSD have that sort of a problem on the system.
Currently I'm using NetBSD. And although
the box says Ultra 2 Creator on the front panel, I do not
have the Creator card in it, just the plain old 8-bits of cgthree
(or some such thing).

cheers,

      mehul
