This is well known problem, I believe. While 2.4 kernels required a special sparc keymap, 2.6 expects the same keymap on all architectures. AFAIK, you can look at the config files in /etc/console or use dpkg-reconfigure console-tools to select the i386 keymap (note that I have never done it myself).

??? How could it work with Sun 5 keyboard ?

Probably I wasn't completely correct. You do not have to select the i386 layout, you just do not need to do anything in userspace to setup the console keymap. As I understand, somewhere between the 2.4 and 2.6 the keymap setting was moved from userspace to kernel space, so that kernel detects the keyboard type and sets the correct keymap itself. Please try Vincent's advice to see if it helps.

2.6.8.10-1 : Boot interrupted by scsi sync problem

Can you post more information about this failure? What kind of SCSI controller is in this machine? What modules are loaded on boot?

Nothing in /etc/modules

Ok, then what modules are loaded? It must be either hotplug or discover1... And it looks like you have at least two different SCSI controllers, which of them is failing? Does it work fine under Solaris? If you can boot from serial console and capture the complete log of the boot, that would be very helpful...
