Ok, I'll try to do some testing with those packages. I only have the (old)
kernel-headers-2.4.18-bf2.4 package.

Looks like the same error reported earlier. Do you have the patch from:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-sparc/2004/11/msg00158.html

The driver is in ALSA 1.0.8 (part of alsa-driver). I don't expect ALSA 1.0.8
to ever be pulled back into the 2.4 kernels, but I could be wrong.

Regarding your email address: I'll be in Karlsruhe next week for the
LAC (http://lac.zkm.de/). Will you by any chance attend that too?
