I tried the new silo and the new kernel-images today. On sparc64 all went
perfect as did the boot of the up kernel on our old SS20. But trying
'kernel-image-2.4.24-sparc32-smp' there still seems to be a size problem:

SPARCstation 20 MP (2 X SuperSPARC-II), No Keyboard
ROM Rev. 2.22, 128 MB memory installed, Serial #7447241.
Ethernet address 8:0:20:71:a2:c9, Host ID: 7271a2c9.

So booting the non-smp-kernel 'kernel-image-2.4.24-sparc32' works. Am I doing
something wrong or is there still a problem on sparc32?

Thanx for any help
