More on Netra X1

Hi all.

I just subscribed to the list. (that's why I'm starting a new thread :))

I recently put my bofhish hands on a NetraX1, and I'm trying to turn it
into the cheapest rackable linux box around :)

I scavenged thru this list archives and many others' ones and I wish to
thank all those who are working to make linux run on this little 64bit
machine.

I made some attempts to boot a kernel (using stuff from
http://auric.debian.org/~bcollins), and I'm in the same situation as
Adam McKenna was on 25 June.

Some days later, Richard Mortimer said he had a non networked Suse 7.1
up and running. He did not specified if Suse has a prebuiltin support in
installation or if he used Ben Collins' stuff.

Adam asked how did he get past the console problem and after some mails
I understood that Richard never had one. Am I right? (he said "I added
console=ttya as boot parameter" then David Miller said "There's no need
for that" then Richard replied "you're right, it works without").

It seems that as for 7 July also Ben Collins has no more problems except
from the network card.

I have to be 3 weeks late, since I'm still struck with the console
problem :)
I tried console=<many things> (ttya, ttyb, ttyS0)

I also guessed from other situation that /dev/console in the ram disk
root could be missed, but it's there (assuming that tftpboot.img
contains the same things as root.tar.gz (still speaking about Ben's
stuff)).

I also tried to boot with Ben's kernel but with an NFS root, but I did
not succeed (with linux.a-out it hangs on "Booting linux", with
tftpboot.img it ignores the nfsroot parameter)

Could anyone help me?

thanks.
