The problem has been mentioned a number of times on debian-sparc; if you look in the archives, you should find a URL for an expiremental replacement libgmp2 that isn't broken. My recollection is that it fixed the key-generation problem, but still had trouble in normal usage; pending other updates, I just rolled enough things back to stable for it to work again.
