Yup, debian rarp/arp 'figures it out' as you suggest. I didn't have to
insert the driver disk - but you do have to know how do do a net install -
i.e. configure the 'net card first, and then when it asks for drivers, it
will suggest nfs as a possibility.
What is the version of your prom? (cat //proc/cpuinfo if you don't feel
like rebooting). I would guess the tftp problem is with a specific prom
versions.
