I've implemented a prototype for this (code at [1]).
I've just been port forwarding localhost:5433 to the postgres port on
stabile:5433. If you agree, I would like to be able to run this script
and [2] on stabile so that I can reduce the speed impact of network
latency on the script runtime to help find more incorrect assumptions
and other issues with running the scripts. This will mean that stabile
will be downloading apt metadata updates for 28 or more Debian
derivatives. If needed I can probably split things up more so that only
the hash transfer and hash searching happens on stabile. To start
running the scripts on stabile I would need RT ticket #3342 fixed
(installing the script deps).
