I don't have any strong opinion about branch layout.
I'm just used to DEP-14, because it is used by many packages,
e.g. by those of the Python team.

I see. It's bad, if people put time and love into merge requests
and package maintainers do not see them... Can gitlab-cli list,
show, and apply merge requests?
