Hi, due to some yak shaving I happened to do the initial packaging for vtk8. Please find it here: https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/debian-science/packages/vtk8.git It is far from being done but already compiles successfully without any lintian errors even. I used the packaging from the vtk7.git and basically touched all the pieces of code that were also changed between the vtk6->vtk7 transition. I might push some more commits in the near future but otherwise please feel free to do whatever you want with what I pushed to alioth. Hopefully I at least spared somebody a few dreadful hours of the time that the otherwise would've spent waiting for vtk8 to compile. :) Thanks! cheers, josch
