All,
I know that this list is usually for discussion regarding Debian
science. This email is not entirely
unrelated as I would like to recruit an engineer in numerical
simulation having a Phd that will work in collaboration with Debian
Science
not only using but also contributing. Don't hesitate to share this
email with your collaborators.
The description of the job is below.
Best regards

1.1 Mission
============
The engineer will work at setting up the center of mathematical modeling and
simulation of Strasbourg. The center, similar to
MaiMoSiNE([http://www.maimosine.fr])in Grenoble, aims at
1. coordinate efforts in modeling and simulation in the Strasbourg area,
2. promote interdisciplinary projects around the modeling and numerical
simulation ;
3. promote the dissemination and implementation of training around the
calculation and modeling;
4. increase the visibility of achievements and skills around modeling
and simulation;
5. promote interaction between research actors, SMEs / SMIs and large
businesses of the Alsace region.
It is organized into three divisions: one associated to research projects, one
to training and one associated to software. Various projects are already in
place especially in the field of bio-medical (cerebral blood flow, detection,
evolution and removal of tumors ...). The engineer will work at the interface
with other disciplines and with businesses that will occur mainly in the
research project and software divisions and to a lesser extent in the training
center.
1.2 Activities
===============
1. Participate and interact closely with other disciplines and companies in
setting up projects and their development and finally the deployment of
solutions;
2. Maintain and develop analytical methods mathematical for solving problems
in the physical library Feel++, [http://www.feelpp.org] or other libraries /
programs;
3. Deploying applications in laboratories or companies developed in the
project division;
4. Disseminate and promote free software developed in the center for example
in Linux distributions like Debian or Ubuntu and in particular with Debian
Science;
5. Provide user support (answering questions, debugging ...)
6. Make the necessary documentation to users;
7. Provide scientific monitoring of the evolution of concepts and methods in
the fields using the means of high performance computing.
1.3 Skills

particular the finite element method. Other types of numerical methods
will be appreciated ;
2. Mastering LINUX / UNIX systems, a SHELL language and some scripting
languages such as Python;
3. Mastering programming languages like C++ and modern programming
environments (eg CMake / CTest / CDash), having experience in verification
and validation and uncertainty quantification is a plus;
4. Know some numerical analysis software tools developed in free software;
5. Have a good knowledge of technical English
2 Candidate profile
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We look for a candidate having a Phd in applied mathematics/scientific
computing or having a strong applied mathematics/scientific computing
content. Expertise in high performance computing will be appreciated. The
candidate must have
1. Ability to communicate with various disciplines requiring the modeling and
simulation as well as business development side of academic disciplines;
2. Aptitude for teamwork and sense of collective responsibility;
3. Aptitude for entrepreneurship and technological innovation.
4. Ability to transfer knowledge and expertise at different levels for both
researchers and engineers using the expert
