I actually was not concerned about the Section which is a technical term
in the debian/control file but rather about the repository you want to
use to commit your packaging (debian/ dir) to, who might sponsor your
package and who might do bug fixes in cases when you are on vacations
etc.
There is a Debian Python team as well as a Debian Science team. There is
no competition between both teams about packages - it's just a matter where
you feel home - any team is fine. In any case it would be a reasonable
idea to subscribe Debian Science mailing list.
