Forseeing a great success, one can even think about breaking up the
packages directory the same way as debian pools its binary package in
its ftp archive:

+-- packages
+-- b
+-- bar
+-- baz
+-- f
+-- foo
+-- policy
+-- tasks
+-- ...
(I Debian-Med we alread have > 100 packages in our SVN, including
work-in-progress ones.)
