     Sorry that in English, I do not have Russian Keyboard support at the
moment. But why not keep "One Image for all computers" and only keep individual
"Registry file" for each computer. In this case you restore over network Win98se
by "dd" and after that on mounted vfat you just copy proper "Regestry file" let
say based on MAC address of NIC. To me it seem first logical solution which came
into my head. There is one disadvantage that you have to pool whole image over
network -- generate high traffic.

   Onother option which probably you should try is rdist. You install Win98se by
default (without any alternation of settins -- default for all you computer) and
make copy through rdist to server. So at this point you have original "Image".
Now you load linux on client and restore the "Image" with default settings
through rdist. So you have working mashine but it doesn't have proper settings.
At this point you boot into Windows and configure computer with real settings.
(I hope that you will use dhcp for simplicity). Now you have to boot into Linux
and make another "Image 1" through rsync on server. So now we have two images
which differs only by files which keep settings. What is next logical step? diff
them and create "patch". When you have it you can follow next shema to recover
computer.
      On computer for recover you load linux and make rsync with original
"Image". It shoul bring in sync this computer delete all resently added files
and restore deleted files. Next step is apply patch. And that's it -- you have
restored machin without generating huge traffic with less time for recover and
you do not need sever with huge diskspace. Disadvantage -- a lot of preparation
work but once it done everything is simple and can be automated.

And third probably optimal solution is to use NewSID.exe program which available
on internet plus NETDOM (from Microsoft in case you run PDS) to assign name and
jouin domain. In this case you will need only one image which you can update let
say twice a month (to install patches from Microsoft). Disadvantage -- you still
have to copy whole image over network on each computer but it can be automated
through BIOS autopower on at night, whith smart boot manager (SBM) which
available for free on internet and has a feature to boot in particular OS base
on time schedule, and all another staff through crontab job. In this combination
you can get a system which flexible as you can update "Image" plus all another
part done completely in auto mode. You sleep and the system reinitiate all
computers, even you can configure that computer will power off at desirable time
(to save power). In the morning you have a fresh new computer lab as just like
after last "Image" installation.
