Could you also make sure to update the manpage to document changes in
ruby-build, please? (It would be good to have an up-to-date overview
of command line switches as well as environment variables in the
manpage.)

Your asciidoctor version is out of date. You'll need asciidoctor
1.5.3, which is the version currently available in stretch and sid.
