Hi! 

If you have a look at Bug#582268 ( http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=582268 ). I reported a similar issue with kmail. Though 
that it doesnt freeze. Here the Composer uses its default behaviour and 
disables the controls in its window so the main application can send off the 
documents content. And the main window of kmail is still responsive. 
Is that the same for you? 
Does it work with akonadi activated?
