While I'd expect a Debian maintainer for a package to at least try to
reproduce a bug in order to properly classify it and then take over himself
the load to at least offer a line of action for the issue to be resolved -and
even this doesn't seem to have been done (not publicly, at least, since
nothing on the line appears on this bug tracker), I find this to be for me
quite an important issue, so I'll beat:

Since I'm neither maintainer for this package nor even Debian developer, would
you sponsor a recopiled kdepim package for Etch with disconnected IMAP turned
off? I know this is not a proper solution, but at least it would avoid false
expectations about this package's functionality. From my perspective,
current kmail package barely allows to be called "stable" without it being
taken for a joke regarding IMAP in general (just as an example it crashed on
me thrice when trying to find you message on my inbox in order to answer
it -it falsely went into my spam folder but that's a different story), but
disconnected IMAP is simply beyond beareability. That's what I propose.

Now the ball is on your roof. If you don't find this to be a proper solution,
I invite *you* to outline a feasible workline, and I'll try to help you as
far as I can in order to put it in practice.
