As you may have already guessed, you should fiddle around with your
config files under ~/.kde/share/config. I'd start by mv'ing
~/.kde/share/config/konquerorrc somewhere else, and see if the
situation improves. Also, ~/.kde/share/config/konq*, and/or
~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/*.
It may or may not be worth the effort, depending how much do you
value your KDE configuration. But as a very last resort you can
always rm -rf ~/.kde.
