Yeah, the only advantage that I see is that people who subscribe to the
package via the PTS are informed of the possible removal. I know at
least one person (non-developer) who needs one of the package that have
been suggested to be removed and who would like to keep it. I
suggested him to subscribe to the package via the PTS so that he stay
informed about what's happening with it and if there are bugs coming up
he can provide patches and ask for an upload on debian-qa.
