Hello,

According to my test, waimea interpret the menu file in ISO-8859-1
encoding irrespective of the locale encoding. In this case you
need to force Debian menu to write the menu file in ISO-8859-1 by adding
outputencoding="ISO-8859-1"
to the waimea menu-method as explained on debian-devel-announce.

You will need to Conflicts: menu (<<2.1.9) to not break partial upgrade
from woody.

Cheers,
