It's not.

The first Portuguese speakers to start working on translation
were Brazilians, so we worked on the pt namespace because that
was what the project created at the time.

That issue also affects the l10n/i18n infrastructure, Brazil
uses debian-l10n-portuguese and we ended up without a proper
space for Portuguese (sometimes also called European Portuguese).

For the computer terms, the two languages are really different,
similar to what happens with Spanish from Spain and some
countries in Latin America.

It happened in previous release to have a Portuguese translation
under pt for the website which we respect but usually cause bug
reports as people are navigating in a Brazilian translated site
and find a Portuguese page.

The website should be easy to split into pt and pt-br, and then
my plan would be to work with Listmasters to create a new list
and allow the European Portuguese speakers to use Debian i18n
infrastructure for their work.
