Yes this is brilliant idea!

And do agree with Raphael on most things, especially:

Most of the things you can pick up on mailing lists or
planet.debian.org or even news.debian.net for that matter. How do you
get your news for Ubuntu? What kind of things interest you? Debian is
a huge project and you may want to narrow what you want to hear :)
