Bug#787709: cups: wrong default "Color Model" setting for Canon Pixma MG2250

Package: cups
Version: 1.7.5-11
Severity: minor
Tags: upstream

Hi,

I recently plugged a Canon Pixma MG2250 printer on a Debian desktop
installation. The printer was automatically installed thanks to
system-config-printer which, I believe, is just a GUI around CUPS.

Problem is, the CUPS test page I printed at first was much too dark (the
colored disk was very dark, and the Debian swirl was dark red, almost
purple).

Fortunately the workaround was quite simple: the "Color Model" setting
in the "General" options tab was set to "RGB Color", whereas the "Ink
Type" setting in the "Printer Features Common" tab was set to "CMYK
Color" (with other possible settings being "CMY Color" and "Black", no
"RGB" or similar). So my first (wild) guess was to set the "Color Model"
to "CMYK" and luckily, it worked: the CUPS test page was then printed
with the usual colors I remember from working printer setups in CUPS.

So, please make the default "Color Model" setting in "General" tab match
the "Ink Type" setting in "Printer Features Common" for this printer.

Regards,
