The short version would be - download a Wheezy netinst ISO; install;
change sources.list to point to testing or unstable; update, upgrade,
dist-upgrade.

However, I do not think you need to do this as I think I have devised a
way which in essence allows your issue to to reproduced here. If you were
to use it with your equipment you would:

1. Obtain the DEVICE_URI from your error log

2. Execute (N.B. On a single line. Below it is broken for readability):

    DEVICE_URI=dnssd://Photosmart%203300%20series%20%5B8B0243%5D._pdl-datastream._tcp.local/
	/usr/lib/cups/backend/dnssd 1 1 1 1 "" file

   Where "file" is text or PDF.

The outcome for me is that on Wheezy there is no printing but on Sid
there is. I cannot replicate your observation about text and PDF files.
Both file types fail here on Wheezy.

Should you do this, it would be nice to see the output of the command
above for text and PDF. It can be done by adding "2>log" after "file".
Your two logs could be compressed with gzip ("gzip log") and attached to
any reply.

Anyway, I think we could stick with assuming that the bug is not in
Jessie.

A quick scan of the Manual for the 3300 doesn't reveal that it has ipp
or socket capability. Your failures could be the result of the printer's
IP address changing, though. The Setup menu on its front panel lets you
check what its address is.

Thank you for your patience.

Brian.
