For what it's worth, I've just installed 138 and initially a window
appeared but I couldn't interact with any menus or do anything. But
after removing .mozilla I was able to get it working. Based on this, it
seems clearing that directory is required.

I've not tried doing much beyond some basic browsing. There are some
graphical glitches, but nothing serious and no crashes. Performance is
better than I had expected, still pretty slow, but better than any dual
P4 system of the era would be, and not bad considering this machine (a
2004 G5) is over 20 years old.
