Trying 2019-04-11 on PowerMac G4 Silver

I tried the 2019-04-11 debian-10.0-powerpc-NETINST-1.iso on a PowerMac G4 Silver (PowerMac3,4).

The image was burned to a CD-R and booted by Open Firmware.

A normal install was performed by keeping everything not otherwise mentioned as default.

Proprietary firmwares were not manually added.

Module to slow spinning fans was not loaded, as it is not needed on this machine model.

Partitioning of the hard drive was guided and not manual.
All files were stored in one partition only (/).

The usual debian-ports mirror was manually entered.

Base system and SSH server only were installed (default tasksel selection plus SSH and minus print-server).

Installation of GRUB was automatic and I was not asked anything.
No problems reported in this process.

When it booted, there was the GRUB screen, as expected. I let it boot after the usual few seconds timeout.

Unfortunately, the boot failed:

> Loading Linux 4.19.0-4-powerpc …
> error: failure reading sector 0x208099d7 from
> `ieee1275//pci@2000000/mac-io@17/ata-4@1f00/disk@0’
> Loading initial ramdisk …
> error: you need to load the kernel first
> Press any key to continue …

I was able to boot into rescue mode from the CD-R and retrieved the attached information.
Let me know if there’s anything more you need.

I’ll try 2019-04-12 on Saturday.

Thanks to all for the good work so far!
