We are not facing "math issues" here. We're talking about the
dietlibc, an alternative implementation of the C library used
on Unix systems.

This library currently fails to build from source on powerpcspe
because the FPU emulation code which was once present in libgcc
was moved from libgcc and therefore from gcc to glibc which is why
dietlibc can no longer use the FPU emulation code in gcc.

To fix dietlibc, someone needs to implement FPU emulation
in dietlibc for the powerpcspe target. It is not possible
for dietlibc to directly use the FPU emulation code in
glibc.

You are throwing around some observation without providing any
error codes or further information. You are also not disclosing
what port of Debian you are running (powerpc or ppc64), but in
any case, the e5500 you are using does not support AltiVec/VMX
which is why any package with Altivec support enabled will
not work.
