Sorry but I'm running some Power6 hardware and I have a different
experience. Here is the results of the a few commands :

ii yaboot 1.3.16-2 Yet Another Bootloader
So yaboot on IBM hardware install in a Prep boot partition without pb.
This hardware, running squeeze, was installed using the official debian
install CD.
