I'm still not convinced. Right now mouse button emulation is done in the
kernel (via sysctl); there is an ongoing user space project called
mouseemu. I think those actors should handle click modifiers. Once they
are done, every program (Xserver and any Xclient, but also gpm etc
etc...) will receive the emulated mouse event, and no custom keymaps or
KDE hacks will be required.
