Re: Antialiased fonts in gtk1.x applications

But the other question is why?

According to the package description supplied by Synaptic

"gtk+-1.2 anti-aliased font support control panel
*** THIS WILL CAUSE APPLICATIONS TO CRASH, DIE, LOSE INFORMATION,
AND OTHER NASTY EFFECTS. DON'T USE THIS IF YOU WANT STABILITY ***"

Is the 1.5 package more stable?

just my 2c :)

I already know the answer: gdkxft :)

But I cannot compile it and I cannot figure out why! I learned to tweak
the gtk1.x fonts using the ~/.gtkrc.mine file, and I'd like to add
antialiasing (I use a couple of gtk1.x applications, such as gentoo and
mplayer).

The output I get while compiling the 1.5 package is this:

[cut coming right after the end of ./configure]

I have the ftheader.h file and is positioned in

/usr/include/freetype2/freetype/config/ftheader.h

I kind of see the solution (an "include" problem) but I don't know how to
do this.

Thanks for any help, and for any other suggestion to antialias gtk1.x
fonts!
