Sound on PowerMac G5

Hello,

I am having problems getting sound to work on my G5 powermac.

I am using the prebuilt 2.6.11-power4-smp kernel and have used apt to get alsa.

Using alsaconf to set up sound support (or using "modprobe
snd-powermac") I get the following error message:

FATAL: Error inserting snd_powermac
(/lib/modules/2.6.11-power4-smp/kernel/sound/ppc/snd-powermac.ko): No
such device
FATAL: Error running install command for snd_powermac

Looking at the tail of "dmesg" I see the following line every time I try:

pmac: can't request resource 0!

What is going wrong, and how can I fix it?
