I've installed ALSA, and ran alsaconf which has found my powermac

nothing audible when I play anything.

I am only able to play audio CDs via xmms. Audio files, though, are
fine with any programm. Can you play a mp3/ogg-file?

GooBox will play CDs as well. It's a pretty nice app and is competing to replace the current
Gnome CD player as the official CD player. It also rips CDs.
